Thrifted Brass Deer Makeover

Happy Thursday! 🙂  Today I want to share with you a little thrift store makeover I did recently.  I’m not even sure what I want to do with these guys yet, but I’m sure they will come in handy.

Several weeks ago I found these adorable brass deer at Goodwill for $2 each.  They are very heavy, but we quickly determined they weren’t made of solid brass as the coating was wearing on in many spots.  I actually was digging the brassy gold color, just not the white-ish worn areas.

I’ve been itching to try the ‘paint-anything-and-everything-under-the-moon-white’ trend, and I thought these would be the perfect candidates.  So I purchase some gloss white spray epoxy paint and went to town on my little deer.

Lessons learned: 1. try to elevate the objects you’re spraying to get the underside coated too, 2. spray LIGHT coats, or it will not look smooth and glossy.

Overall it was a fun little makeover, and I think I learned from it.  Now I just need to figure out a home for these little guys.   I’ll leave you with another parting photo.  Until next time, peace out! 😉
