We have paint!!! It may have seemed like we would never get there (at least it seemed that way to me), but we’ve made it. We finally have a gorgeously moody, glossy, paneled room. And it feels so good.
Although we’re far from done in here, I just want to take a moment and appreciate visible progress…. Ahhhh 🙂 So much of the work we’ve been doing to prep this room for paint has been non-rewarding. Isn’t so hard to work for days and not see any visible progress?? But, now with some color on the wall we are in the home stretch with our den.
It looks pretty glossy right? Originally I was planning on a high gloss finish to get really gleamy walls. But, after a visit to the paint store I learned that they didn’t have high gloss available in non-white colors.. so we went with a semi-gloss. I was skeptical after the first coat, but once we put a second one on it was much shinier. And I’m happy with how it turned out 🙂
The next thing on our to-do list is to finish up that ceiling. After a long and grueling battle with the popcorn nightmare, We now just need to sand the spackle down and repaint. Hooray!
Other (eventual) to-do items in this room include: painting the windows white, sprucing up the garage and basement doors with some paint and trim, replacing the broken door handle on the sliding glass door, replace outlet covers, add lighting, floor, and trim out the baseboards.
Those are just the structural to-dos, I also am brewing up some fun decor ideas for this space. Think velvet sectional, black and white sitting chairs flanking a fun TV console. I’d love a cozy leather club chair and to incorporate some deep blues and greens into the room.
This is the original inspiration for the room:
From there I created a moodboard to capture the look I’m going for:
I think we are well on way to getting there 🙂 Any thoughts on the glossy finish? Was semi-gloss a good compromise? I need some positive reinforcement here!! 😉
Love this! May I ask what color this is in the den?
Thanks Stephanie! It’s gray matters by Sherwin Williams.
Love, love, love the walls! They are very moody – great word. And totally digging the inspiration room. 🙂 it’s going to look amazing!
Why thank you 🙂 I’m hoping it will look somewhat as cool in real life as it does in my head lol!
Looks tons better. I hope Butternut did not help too much with the paint job.
Glad to hear it! 🙂 And I do think she got a bit on her cheek when she turned the corner… other than that no other help 😉
I think it looks great and soooo much bigger and brighter!! What color did you use? And I like the little feline photo-bomber.
Thanks!!! I’m really happy with how the color turned out, not too dark, not too light 🙂 Haha, she is such a stinker…
