According to the ‘Master Schedule’, ceiling light installations are on the plate for September. So, I’ve been doing some research and planning on what lights to be buying for our house. The den, living room, and all three bedrooms currently have no overhead lighting (who does that?). So, it is a priority to light this place up asap.
How are you supposed to make use of your evenings if the room you are trying to work on is pitch black? We currently have one $10 Walmart floor lamp, yes the kind you buy for college. And it travels from room to room with us throughout the house.
We obviously are in need of a lot of lights, but don’t want to break the bank at the same time. I’ve been shopping around for some inexpensive options and I’ve found that there are a lot of affordable lights out there, but not a lot of pretty ones… So, I thought I’d do a little roundup of contemporary and stylish flush-mount/ceiling lights for under $50.
Right now I’m seriously considering the first light (octagonal shape) for the living room and maybe doing two of them. I like that the shape makes it look sleek and modern, but it’s still understated enough that it doesn’t call too much attention. Some rooms need an attention-grabbing light, like the dining room. But others you just want the light to be a backdrop to the furnishings, people, and activities that go on there.
Any other inexpensive and chic lighting sources out there? 🙂
Isn’t it crazy how expensive lighting can get? We have the Ikea one (number 4) in our entry way and really like it. It’s pretty when lit up. I always think about painting it or something, but haven’t yet. 🙂
It is so crazy! I was thinking about getting that one for a bedroom so it’s good to know you like it, I will have to go stalk some of your entryway pics and check it out 😉
