Let’s talk gifts… we all love to get them, and we love to give them, but let’s be honest. Sometimes figuring out the right gift can be beyond difficult. Do you take the DIY route for that sweet personal touch, but face the possibility of cheesy-homemady-ness (yes I made that word up) ? Or do you buy from the store to ensure quality and functionality while hoping it’s an item the personal will like?
Any way you look at it, gifting can be tough. But, when done from the heart it is always rewarding. Below are some of my favorite gift ideas that blend that special DIY touch with nice gifts that others will appreciate. (If any of you ever receives one of these from me some day, please act incredulous and pretend you’ve never heard of it before ;))

Housewarming/Hostess Gifts
Fresh Lemonade Kit
VIA
How sweet is this lemonade gift set? It’s great for any summer get-together. So simple, yet thoughtful. Include lemons, a recipe for lemonade, a wooden spoon, dishtowel, and pitcher for this hostess gift set.
Citrus Coaster Set
VIA
How cute are these citrus coasters? Another great hostess gift for a summer get-together. These are fully DIY-able, it simply takes some felt, glue, thread, needle, and some mad cutting skills! With this do-it-yourself project, there is no worrying about cheesy-awkwardness as coasters are a very noncommittal gift. Tie them up in a nice bow, add a card. 🙂
Hand Stamped Dish Towels
VIA
Try your hand at these adorable hand-stamped towels. Another cute DIY gift that is sure to be appreciated. Give as a hostess or housewarming gift, or even at a bridal shower. (Who ever has enough dish towels? I never do….)
Fresh Scents Gift Basket
VIA
This neat house-warming gift is thoughtful and looks great! The link even has a tutorial and printable for the lavender plant and pot. Add some fresh towels and soap, and pair with a cute basket!
Lime Tree with Limeade
Who doesn’t love plants?? Even people without green thumbs appreciate a little more nature in their home, for however long it lasts… 😉 I am in love with this gift idea, a lemon (lime or orange would work too) tree wrapped in burlap and ribbon with some glass bottles (you could do lemonade, limeade or orange crush to match :)).
Shower/Wedding Gifts
Dishtowel Wrapped Cookbook
VIA
What a sweet way to wrap a bridal shower gift. Two wooden spoons, a dishtowel, and a cookbook are fairly standard gifts, but the unique presentation knocks this gift set out of the park. I have actually done this gift before… Let me just say, please buy a small cookbook and a large dish towel 😉
Kitchen Supplies in an Oven Mitt
VIA
Another cute way to wrap your kitchen gifts for a shower! This could make a nice Christmas or housewarming gift as well. Everybody needs some kitchen refreshers every once-in-a-while 🙂
Glittered Wooden Spoons
VIA
How adorable is this glitter DIY? Make as favors for a sparkly bridal shower. Or DIY a whole slew of kitchen utensils to give to the glitter-lover in your life!
Monogrammed Honeymoon Swimsuit
VIA
Monograms are so fun and classy! Local embroidery stores can easily add someone’s initials for a very reasonable price. How perfect is a monogrammed swimsuit, for a bride headed off to a beach honeymoon? (Just make sure she likes the suit beforehand, you can do the same thing on a one-piece or tankini)
Monogrammed Pocket V-Neck Tee
VIA
Going along with above, the versatile monogram gift shown on a t shirt. Adorable, right? 🙂 You can use this with so many things like a wallet, or tote.
More Gifting Ideas
Giant Beach Towel
VIA
Sew four beach towels together to make the ultimate beach or picnic blanket! Bonus if you sew a tote on the back corner that folds in to hold the blanket 🙂
Caramel & Apple Gift Bag
VIA
A jar of caramel (homemade or bought) paired with an apple is a fun new take on the typical teacher gift. This would also make a great favor idea for a fall shower or wedding.
The Girlfriend Gift Set
The ultimate girlfriend gift! A reusable Starbucks cup with nailpolish, chapstick, and a Target giftcard. You can switch the items up to personalize it for the recipient.
Icecream Sundae Kit
VIA
An ice-cream sundae gift box is a great family to family gift. My family made these as Christmas gifts several years ago, and they were a hit! My mom took it one step further and dipped all the waffle cones in chocolate, caramel, candy goodness!!!! Mmmmmm 🙂
I hope these have given you some fun ideas for the next time you have gift-giver’s block! Happy Thursday 🙂
