No, for REAL This Time…

contingent

That’s right, we did it again… We went under contract on a house!!!  And this time I waited to tell you about it until after the inspection 😉  (The last one didn’t go too well…)  Thankfully, everything is moving right along in the process this time and it is officially T minus 27 days until closing.  I am beyond excited and have so much to share about my dreamin’ and schemin’ for our future abode.

It’s been a whirlwind of a month for us Fancee’s over here, but we couldn’t be more blessed.  Two weeks ago we saw a new house on the market, it looked fairly run of the mill… until we checked the google maps view. (Ummm, are we crazy or does anyone else judge at least 50% of the value of the house by house much green surrounds it on google?)   Not only is this house less than two-hundred yards from the Dupage River (what can I say: we love rivers!), it has an empty lot next to it that is owned by a utilities company so it will never be built on.  Pretty much we loved this house before even seeing any interior pictures…

We went and viewed the house that weekend.  It was built in 1986, and amusingly is a near exact replica of my parent’s house (a mini version of course).  The layout seemed right and there are lots of big windows (a huge seller in my book)!  The finishes are pretty lack luster, which is ideal since we’d like to be able to add all those special touches ourselves.  We are those weird buyers who told our realtor that if a house looks nice, we don’t want to see it.  (Ok, writing that here makes is sound ridiculous, but bottom line: we are itching to bust out some DIY magic, and that’s a no-can-do on an already finished house!)

overview

We made an offer on it a few days later, did some back and forth, and BAM!  We settled on a price.  Oh, and did I mention it was two days until we left for a week on vacation??  That was a scramble, let me tell ya… But, nevertheless we got everything done and the inspection in (literally hours before our flight to Florida).  And thank heavens, there were no major issues.  Only some minor problems like a leaky toilet seal, and some iffy siding (which we were already well aware of).

So, we’re supposed to close on the 7th of July… there’s only one issue: our lease ends June 30th.  Yeah.  That’s a potential issue… Pray that our landlords let us extend!!!

In other news, we had a blast hanging with the family at Disney and Universal.  (Shout out to all those 3-D rides, they rock!  And if you go you must try the Butter Beer: a frozen butterscotch flavored cream soda that is out of this world).  To celebrate their 25th anniversary my parents’ renewed their vows at our vacation home in Orlando.  It was a wonderful time celebrating family and the love that they share!

Well I just wanted to pop in and give you all an update on life.  Like I said, I have many ideas hatching in this crazy head of mine, that I will share down the road here…  Along with some pics! 🙂  But for now I will leave you with this little teaser…
