As I’ve been brainstorming what lovelies I should fill our picture ledges with, I’ve fallen in love with the themed vintage prints gallery walls. It seems like they are everywhere and of everything! I think the botanical ones are the most neutral and therefore the most popular. But, I must say I also love the bird themed, underwater, and shell galleries, to name a few. Let me show you what I mean….
There are so many neat ideas out there. The best part of this is that you can make your wall so reflective of who you are and what you love! Into fashion? Find vintage Channel prints. You’re more into the retro look? Frame blocky black and white art prints. Whatever makes you tick, just print and frame!
Sites such as VintagePrintable.com and Botanicus.org provide free printable vintage images. They can be difficult to navigate, but they have some definite gems! I especially like when all of the prints come from the same book, providing some uniformity in the design. It can be difficult on the Vintage Printable website to find a grouping from one book. I was able to find one really neat book, the Grocer’s Encyclopedia which would be so perfect for a kitchen gallery wall!
There are endless possibilities for themed galleries: dogs, cats, birds, flowers, fruits, trees, keys, cameos, bicycles, or furniture. You could go broader and aim for a grouping theme such as jungle life, vintage posters, seascapes, or typography. Personally, since ours will be more eclectic sizes, mixed in with our family and wedding photos, I think we will try to stick with prints that are relevant to us. Fish and deer prints will make there way up there, I’m sure. But beyond that, I am struggling to find a way to bring some uniformity or theme to it all. There is so much more pressure on what you choose when there isn’t a theme; that means that each print has to have some significance to you! I can’t even decide on any yet. 🙂 Any suggestions?
